Hyperpigmentation occurs when the skin produces more melanin causing a darker patch of skin. It is a very common skin condition affecting people of all skin types.

Not all hyperpigmentations are the same. It is important to consult a doctor to check what type of pigmentation you are having as the treatment for each pigmentation is different.

Sun spots (Solar lentigenes)

  They appear as flat, well-circumscribed patch. They can be round, oval or irregular in shape and size varies from a few milimetres to centimetres in diameter.The sun the causative factor in this type of pigmentation. They occur anywhere on the face, back of the hands and body.

Freckles (Ephelides)

Nevus of Ota
